Little Six Casino Returning to Original Site
Prior Lake, Minnesota -
Little Six Casino will open at its new location at the original site of Little
Six Bingo on Friday, December 14, 2007. It was there that the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux
Community, under the leadership of the first SMSC Chairman Norman M. Crooks, first introduced
High Stakes Bingo to Minnesota October 16, 1982, changing life for the SMSC dramatically and
forever. Now, 25 years later, the original Little Six Bingo site just across the parking lot from the
existing tipi structure will be home to the new Little Six Casino.
The 13 trailers that were pieced together during the early days of the Little Six Casino were
intended as temporary. The current Little Six Casino building, which opened in 1989, has now
come to the end of its life cycle and needed to be replaced.
"We wanted to provide Little Six Casino guests with a better gaming experience than the
current facility could offer, and we felt to accomplish that we needed a different building," said
SMSC Chairman Stanley R. Crooks. "We're just moving the operation back to its original site, a
place which has great significance to our Community, as the birthplace of a new life for our
people."
"We will maintain the small casino feel which our guests preferred through the years. The
atmosphere in the new Little Six Casino will be more comfortable for our guests with improved air
quality, wider aisles, higher ceilings, a circular layout, and easier parking. We'll have the same slot
machines, the same blackjack tables, and the same staff our guests came to know and love," said
Tom Polusny, SMSC Gaming Enterprise Vice-President and Little Six Casino General Manager.
The current Little Six Casino will close at midnight on Sunday, December 9, 2007. The new
Little Six Casino will open to the public on Friday, December 14, 2007. A private opening by
invitation only for SMSC Community members and their guests will be held on December 13,
2007.
Little Six Casino will have a new Little Six Restaurant with the same down home cooking
guests enjoyed at its current facility. The addition of thin crust pizza, rotisserie chicken, and
increased bakery, sandwich, and salad offerings will complement the new menu. The Little Six
Restaurant will be open 7:00 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Friday through Saturday. This new restaurant will not be open or accessible to children or anyone
under the age of 18.
As for the existing Little Six Casino, the Tipi Restaurant will remain open to the public at its
existing location from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. seven days a week. The lower-level space that was
home to Little Six Casino for the past several years will likely be used for tribal government
operations, but specific future uses of the former site have yet to be determined by the SMSC.
